Cold Water Services

These results cover pipes and fittings above DN100 size for cold water supply within buildings, for use up to a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar. This includes:

Direct mains-fed pipework
Supplies cold water directly from the incoming mains, before any cistern or gravity tank. The minimum water supply pressure is 0.7 bar (water service provider legally requirement).

Boosted tank-fed pipework
Supplies cold (ambient) water from a booster pump that is fed by a cistern or gravity tank, pressure boosted cold water where the mains pressure is insufficient.

Gravity tank-fed pipework
Supplies cold (ambient) water that is fed by gravity from a storage tank, where low pressure cold water is sufficient.

Potable water
Water suitable for human consumption that meets minimum legal requirements for wholesome water from mains or private extraction.

Pipe and fittings material

  • PB (Polybutylene)

  • PE-X (Cross-linked Polyethylene)

  • PE-RT (Polyethylene of raised temperature resistance)

  • PP (Polypropylene)

  • PVC-C (Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride)

  • MLCP (Multilayer Composite including an aluminium layer)

Pipe and fittings standard

  • BS EN ISO 15874: PP

  • BS EN ISO 15875: PE-X

  • BS EN ISO 15876: PB

  • BS EN ISO 15877: PVC-C
